John Colligan is the Principal of Colligan Golf Design (CGD), a Texas-based golf course architecture and design firm. Colligan has a strong academic background in architecture and environmental design, holding a BS and a Master's from the University of Texas at Arlington. He has been an active member of the North Texas Golf Course Superintendents Association since 1986, where he also serves on the Board of Directors.
Colligan's expertise in land planning has been a key asset in the numerous golf course/housing development projects he has undertaken. His company, CGD, has worked with a wide range of Municipal and Country Club clients. These clients serve as references, attesting to the high-quality work that CGD produces.
One of CGD's unique specializations is the renovation and restoration of historic golf courses. These courses have been designed by leading golf course architects of the last century, like A.W. Tillinghast, Dr. Alister Mackenzie, Tom Bendelow, John Bredemus, Perry Maxwell, Robert Trent Jones Sr. and Jr., Pete Dye, and Ralph Plummer. Preserving these golf courses is not just about restoring their functional aspect, but also about preserving a crucial part of golfing history.
