Biography
Steve Forrest is an experienced golf course designer and has been an associate with Arthur Hills and Associates since he earned his Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree from Virginia Tech in 1979. He rapidly climbed the ranks in the firm, becoming a principal in October 1999, and was an active member of the American Society of Golf Course Architects (ASGCA) since 1985, even serving as President for the 2007-2008 term. Forrest's designs are majorly influenced by the "traditionalist philosophy" of Arthur Hills, emphasizing courses that are challenging yet playable and complement the natural features of their location.
From 2000 to 2012, Forrest played a major role in extending the Arthur Hills portfolio to regions outside the United States including Europe, North Africa, Russia, and China. He was involved in high-profile projects such as the Hills Golf Club in Gothenburg, Sweden, Vasatorps Golfklubb TC and Classic Courses in Helsingborg, Sweden, Oslo Golfklubb in Oslo, Norway, Noria Golf Club at Chrifia in Marrakech, Morrocco, Forest Hills Golf Club in Moscow, Russia, and The Petercourse in St. Petersburg, Russia.
In the recent years following the international expansion, Forrest has been directing his focus on new course and renovation work within the United States. His impressive career trajectory and the depth of his experience in golf course design are reflected in his successful projects both at home and abroad.
